Location Name
Exhibit Hall Meeting Room 2
Description

The COVID era has changed the teaching environment in a myriad of ways including course delivery options, student expectations of instructors and the instructional environment, and social interaction norms. The goals of this workshop are to identify and investigate COVID-era challenges that most greatly affect our teaching and student learning and identify solutions, including those currently being used by our members and new strategies with potential. During this interactive workshop, participants will identify the key challenges such as those associated with student attendance, reduced participation both in the classroom and with remote attendees, the remote monitoring of assessments, and understanding how social interaction expectations and social norms have evolved. Mentimeter will be used to receive and share participant-identified challenges. Using group discussion with team reporting, strategies to overcome challenges and leverage new technologies and the growing expertise of both instructors and students in a technology-aided instructional space will be identified and discussed. Each identified challenge and potential solutions will be discussed within groups for approximately eight minutes, after which groups will highlight their discussion and solutions. The final fifteen minutes of the workshop will be devoted to summarizing the key challenges and solutions. This will be a highly participatory workshop and we look forward to your input and excellent discussion!
