Bio
Donaven McLaurin is a Biological Science Specialist for the Institute of Youth, Family, and Community (IYFC). Within IYFC, Donaven works with DOCE’s undergraduate portfolio which includes programs such as Research and Extension Experiences for Undergraduates, Higher Education Challenge, Multicultural Scholars program, and the Capacity Building Program for Non-Land Grant Colleges of Agriculture.

Prior to joining the NIFA family, Donaven worked at the National Science Foundation. Before his career in federal service, Donaven taught Botany at the University of Southern Mississippi where he is also completing a PhD in Biological Sciences. He holds a master’s degree in Community College Education from Mississippi State University and a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Southern Mississippi.
