Bio
Michael earned a B.S. in Pharmacy from the University of Washington and Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry from the University of Minnesota. Finding his calling in a teaching-focused career, Michael has served as a faculty member in health professions education at Southwestern Oklahoma State University, Wingate University, Regis University, and currently at Drake University. In his current role, Michael also serves as the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs for the College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences, a college of about 800 health professions students in various allied health disciplines. As a department chair, Michael first engaged with Team-Based Learning (TBL) and the TBLC in 2008 while leading the effort to create a curriculum for the then new pharmacy program at Regis University, resulting in a novel, highly-integrated PharmD curriculum delivered primarily by TBL across three didactic years. Over the years Michael has served on the TBLC Executive Committee, first as a member-at-large and then as president-elect, president, and immediate past-president.
