Aaron Ansell
Prior to working in Huntington, he worked in Philadelphia District for one year in the Hydrographic survey Section. While at Philadelphia district, Aaron performed hydrographic surveys in the Delaware and Chesapeake Bays and the New Jersey intercoastal waterway. He performed multi-beam, single beam, and side scan sonar surveys to map the depth of the channels to allow for boat travel. Upon transferring to the Huntington District, switched focus to performing boundary, deformation, and LiDAR surveys. Aaron has performed surveys in twelve states and Puerto Rico.

Burke Asay
Burke Asay has been involved in the surveying and mapping industry for over 20 years. Graduating with a diploma in Geomatics Engineering Technology from the British Columbia Institute of Technology in 2000, then gaining experience in land surveying and engineering projects in the private sector, before joining Leica Geosystems in 2007 to work in Software Development.
Burke transitioned to sales and support, when joining Leica Geosystems Western Canadian Geomatics dealer Spatial Technologies in 2009, before returning to work directly for Leica Geosystems in 2017 in a support and training role. Current duties are focused on Support and Training of Leica Geosystems Captivate and Infinity product lines.

David Doyle
Dave Doyle has been engaged in geodetic surveying since his enlistment in the U.S. Army in 1967. In 1972 he joined the National Geodetic Survey and held the position of chief geodetic surveyor for twelve years prior to his retirement in January 2013. He was responsible for the development, technical design and management of plans and programs that enhanced the United States National Spatial Reference System. During his career his experiences included all phases of geodetic triangulation, astronomic positioning, leveling, GPS data collection, data analysis, datum transformations, network adjustments, data publication and outreach in the form of seminars, workshops and webinars. His efforts also included extensive activities to direct and coordinate the modernization of national geodetic reference frames in countries in Africa, Central, Caribbean and South America, Eastern Europe and the Pacific.
Mr. Doyle is a Past President and Fellow member of the American Association for Geodetic Surveying, has served on the U.S. delegation to the International Federation of Surveyors and is an active member of the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia professional surveyors associations. He is the recipient of numerous service awards from federal, state and national surveying agencies and organizations including the AAGS Joseph Dracup Achievement Award (2018) and the Maryland Surveyor of the Year (2008).

Jonathan Efaw
Jonathan has worked in in the West Virginia Surveying industry since 2013, with a focus on laser scanning of all forms in the mining, oil & gas, and transportation industries. He attended Defense Mapping School (now National Geospatial Intelligence Agency) in Fort Belvoir for geodetic surveying, and received continuing education in the U.S. Army Professional Development Institute, Community College of the Air Force, and various conferences to acquire more than 200 credits in surveying, mapping, geology, GIS, and engineering. His experience during the past 38 years varies from surface and underground mining design and permitting, boundary & topographic surveys, ALTA surveys, subdivisions, construction surveying, GIS creation, oil/gas wells and pipelines, and consulting through several small to large private engineering and survey firms, and the U.S. Government (U.S. Army Reserves, U.S. Air Force Reserves, and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers civilian). Horneman retired from the Reserves as a Master Sergeant with 24 years of service, and currently works for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Pittsburgh District, as the real estate cartographer for cadastral projects and GIS base mapping. He is licensed as a Professional Land Surveyor in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and New York, and is also a GIS Professional. Horneman is a past president of the PSLS Southwest Chapter, and served as the PADEP‐PSLS Liaison Committee chair and the Geospatial Committee.

He began his geospatial career when he enlisted in the U.S. Army as a Field Artillery Surveyor. Jeff has spent his career performing a variety of field and office survey functions, including structural deformation monitoring; boundary retracement; terrestrial LiDAR scanning; single- and multi-beam hydrography; and local/legacy datum resolution. Before joining the NGS team, he’s had stints with a land development firm performing construction and boundary surveys, as a cadastral surveyor with the BLM, as a GIS technician with multiple employers, and as a surveyor with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District. He attended and graduated from Lafayette High School and went on to graduate from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor’s in Business with a minor in Entrepreneurship. Following school, he applied what he learned and launched his own drone service company, doing photogrammetry work for private ranches in Texas. He later was introduced to the Poche’s at NEI where he became the UAS Sales and Support Lead for Navigation Electronics conducting all aspects of drone sales and support throughout the southeastern United States. Today Ross, works for Airworks a software company out of Boston, MA that specializes in using Artificial Intelligence to convert aerial imagery from drones and manned aircraft as well as colorized mobile LiDAR into CAD deliverables.

Kurt Luecke
As a CFM and Flood Mitigation Specialist for Floodproofing.com Kurt Luecke provides expertise on FEMA, NFIP, ICC and ASCE guidance found in current IRC/IBC code and analyze product solutions for hazard mitigation, disaster preparedness and floodplain design and construction.
Consults with all parties involved in floodplain management, design, build, and habitation to help identify compliance issues and find solutions that address current or future application needs. Our primary focus is on mitigating damage, improve recovery time and lower flood insurance liability.

Leon graduated from GSC in 1974. He worked for the Planning and Development Division of DNR for two years, was licensed in 1976 and worked for Swecker Eng for 13 years. During his time there, he was involved with boundary surveys and survey work for engineering projects. He has been in private practice for the past 33 years and has completed courses in tree identification at GSC. He has been practicing tree and wood identification and boundary line marking throughout his career as a Land Surveyor; cutting trees and working with wood over the years; and being instructed by his father growing up. Leon has taught several Tree & Wood ID seminars for the Elkins Chapter and WVSPS. The seminars are with the use of hands-on samples of leaves, wood and bark, and green poles for demonstration of tree marking.

Mack McCarty
Earnest "Mack" McCarty is a professional land surveyor and chief of the geospatial section of the Huntington District of the United States Army Corp of engineers. He is the former president and current vice president of the WVSPS. In 2022, McCarty was selected as the WVSPS Surveyor of the Year.
