The Kern National Network for Flourishing in Medicine (KNN) is a national movement whose work is focused on the integration of four foundational elements within the profession of medicine: character, caring, practical wisdom and flourishing. We advance this work in the following ways: connecting and convening stakeholders across the healthcare ecosystem, catalyzing transformative initiatives, and influencing policy and systems change. When clinical learning environments, practice settings and health systems cultivate a wholeness of being and sense of purpose — along with competence and continuous improvement — then those within can truly flourish. That’s the KNN’s aspirational goal: Advancing character, caring and practical wisdom in medicine to ignite positive culture change that helps individuals, communities and society flourish.

The Association for the Study of Medical education (ASME) was established in 1957 by the GMC to conduct, promote and disseminate medical education research and education. It now stands alone as an independent Charity Association and became a Limited Company in 2016. It has a Board of Directors (Trustees) and its aims and objectives are achieved through its Committees, Career Groups and SIGs (Special Interest Groups). It has both individual and institutional members.
ASME works collaboratively with educators, learners, researchers and policy makers to promote scholarship and excellence in medical education to meet the changing needs of the future healthcare workforce. www.asme.org.uk
The ASPBP originally existed as the Pathway Programs and Bridges (PPB) Special Interest Group (SIG) within the Southern Group on Educational Affairs (SGEA). In 2022, ASPBP separated from the PPB SIG to serve a broader group of individuals and organizations outside of the SGEA. These individuals and organizations represent more than just allopathic medical schools located in the southern region of the AAMC, and they are more broadly focused on STEMM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, and Medicine), rather than only medicine.
The ASPBP believes that justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion are essential for STEMM to be successful, and strategies to increase these principles should be rooted in evidence-driven practices. ASPBP values cooperation and teamwork as crucial to solving complex problems.
The ASPBP envisions a community of practice that strives for a world in which STEMM professionals are as diverse as the populations they serve, allowing the various needs of a multicultural society to be identified, understood, and addressed and ensuring health for all.
As a vibrant and supportive community of practice, we will develop best practices needed to achieve inclusivity and equity across the continuum of education. We will provide mentorship and support to develop and implement pathway programs and bridges for students to succeed in STEMM careers. Consistent with our values and vision, we will advocate for systemic change that espouses justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion in all learning spaces and institutions. We will act in solidarity with professional organizations and other communities of practice to advance and lead evidence-based objectives to transform the biomedical workforce for the benefit of the human condition.

Ugh. Curriculum mapping. Ahhhhh. mapEDU! That’s right. Skip the faculty surveys and endless hours of hand mapping. Let mapEDU’s Natural Language Processing (NLP) algorithm do the undifferentiated heavy lifting of mapping curriculum to objectives. AND not just the planned curriculum as defined in course syllabi, but the actual delivered content from the classroom. We’re talking lectures, slide presentations, handouts, exams. mapEDU takes your delivered curricular content and • maps it to your preferred learning outcomes (think program, course, or session objectives, or national outcomes like USMLE) • surfaces where MeSH terms are being taught throughout your curriculum. Highly accurate reports, ranked lists, exam category tags, and curriculum maps provide the information you need to identify both gaps and redundancies for continuous quality improvement. Let us show you! mapEDU is the only cloud-based platform specifically designed for curriculum mapping and analytics in higher education—especially in health science programs like allopathic, nursing, osteopathic, pharmacy, and dental schools.
